Two-Stop Jaunt for Stewart Walker
from listed Bookings:
“Keeping true to the underground nature of electronic music, listed Bookings is excited to announce a two-stop jaunt for Persona Records label-head, Stewart Walker, which will find him playing on both coasts, in wildly different settings with one common goal: To move the masses. Starting in Pittsburgh on May 1st and ending the following day in San Francisco, these two live gigs will showcase not only Stewart’s talents, but listed’s ability to search out the best parties in America to showcase their artists.
“It’s hard to have a conversation about the current state of techno without delving into it’s past, and in both places you will find Stewart Walker. Wildly influenced by the early sounds of the Jeff Mills, Stewart took rhythm into his own hands and started to produce his own flavor of techno. His back catalog reads like a techno bible, with releases on such labels as Matrix Records, Tresor, M_nus, to name a few. When “Artificial Music for Artificial People” got picked up by Christian Vogal’s Mosquito label in 1997, Stewart found himself on the live circuit, but instead of walking into a club with a record bag, he worked off a live set-up which consisted at that time of a sampler and a mixer, happier to create the music than just play it. In 2001, he set up his own record label, Persona Records, which he later moved to Berlin in 2005, along with Stewart himself. Constantly producing, searching out new artists to fill his stable, and playing out has lead to a highly respected reputation for quality inside the industry.
“On May 1st, Stewart will be bringing his live set-up to Pittsburgh, PA, at a studio that sits atop a nearly 700 foot high cliff and overlooks the city from a wall of windows, which will serve as the backdrop for the night’s performance. The space holds 200 people at it’s absolute maximum, creating a very intimate vibes for those in attendance. This event will be a lock-in style format where attendees must arrive by midnight and will go ‘til late. San Francisco is next on May 2nd where Stewart will be playing for the Bay Area’s much-respected techno monthly, Kontrol at the Endup. With Kontrol’s focus on live performances, this is a perfect pairing, and a great way to end the weekend tour.
“During this quick two-stop tour, listed Bookings hopes to shed some light on the current state of techno while celebrating the underground scenes that exist throughout the States. We hope you will be able to join us as we present Stewart Walker in two very different settings, on opposite coasts, yet united by their love of all things underground.”
