Ugandan born Jenifa Mayanja has been part of the underground deep house music scene for many years. She solidified her reputation first as a music buyer at the now defunct legendary record store “Dancetracks” and then as one of the most sought after djs in New York crowning her achievements playing at the “Body and Soul party many times over.She created and nurtured her own parties that featured her eclectic style of djing that were well received and written about in “TimeOut NY” one of those parties “Bu-mako” was the start of other creative avenues for Jenifa. Currently she runs her own imprint “Bu-mako recordings” on which her musical productions are featured, and also djs on her own radio show “The Bumako Experience” on www.motionfm.com on Fridays at 2pm.While she has been coined the “the first lady of deep house” by some, her musical productions cross many genres and her music has been playlisted by tastemakers like Steve Bug, Alex From Tokyo, ISoul8, Vince Watson, Lars Benhenroth, DJ Deep, Slam Mode, Jus-Ed, and numerous others… Recently added to the Uzuri Bookings DJ roster, home to some of the hottest underground stars in the scene, the world gets to finally experience Jenifa’s well versed, energetic, spirit filled dj sets…
