ALEX M

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usBorn to a Billboard Chart-topping, Grammy nominated father, Alex M. has been performing since his early teens. Starting off as a vocalist & drummer in hardcore bands, he became obsessed with the sounds of drum in bass in 1995 after hearing a mix-tape from AWOL. Shortly thereafter he became a member of the legendary BeatCamp crew, controlling the crowd with his lyrics and energy. Remaining with BeatCamp, he ventured onto another project with Evilbase recordings, performing as an emcee and touring throughout Puerto Rico, the North and Midwest. He later became a member of the Live PA “Thorns”. The short-lived PA gave birth to drum and bass group, “New Republic.”

After a flight to New York and a visit to BreakBeat Science, New Republic’s tunes “Hell Can Wait” and “Risky Business” were quickly signed and released. Moonshine Music featured “Hell Can Wait” on one of the best selling dance music compilations, “Total Drum & Bass.” New Republic’s music was also played live by Reid Speed on the Jamie Kennedy experience, a U.S. hidden camera show. Since the breakup of New Republic, Alex has obtained his Audio Engineering degree from SAE and released “Jawbreaker” with Rawtee. Alex also assists in his father’s full production recording facility with a roster of impressive, high profile clientele.

Currently Alex resides in Miami, a city best known for intense, insane and never-ending parties. Now, Type New Music is giving drum and bass a reason to pay attention to Miami outside of the annual Winter Music Conference. The vision is simple: providing a new outlet to artists that coincide with Type-New Music’s strict, consistent sound. Type-New Music has been a project in the making for past few years, carefully not making hasty moves just to get a release out. The old adage “You can’t rush perfection” could never be more relevant.

Hailing from the Magic City, this brand new label starts off with a smashing first release entitled ‘Jawbreaker.’ Written by Miami natives Alex M. and Rawtee ‘Jawbreaker’ is a very technical tune with a catchy, memorable lead and multiple changes. With all that said it is also surprisingly very DJ friendly. The UK’s very own Zen did a superb job reinventing the original idea using his signature sound. The remix brings strong drums, dark basslines and gives it a stomping, rolling feel. The remix is the perfect match, it’s just right and doesn’t try to outshine the original.

Type-New Music’s first 12″ release ‘Jawbreaker’ written by Alex M. & Rawtee and Zen’s ‘Jawbreaker Remix’ has got some people talking. With 5 releases since then and another 3 on their way, the TNM series is sure to blow up.

Read what is being said about TNM001 Jawbreaker/Jawbreaker Remix::

- ‘ Alex M & Rawtee bring forth a hot dance-floor anthem….the pad intro draws you into futuristic stabs that hook you instantly…as soon as the bass drops the parties rocks everytime……love this tune….Jawbreaker ’ -Simon Bassline Smith

- ‘ Jawbreaker RMX is BANGIN!!! Everytime I drop this tune people lose it. Definitely one of my favorites at the moment.’ - DJ Craze

- ‘ Formation’s Zen provides a sinister remix on backside! He stays true to the original theme and adds his signature bass heavy jump-up sound. This has been getting rinsed by some big boys out in the club and rave! The future of north-american dnb is continually looking bright! ’ - Rinse Magazine

- ‘Miami-based newcomers Rawtee and Alex M. knock out a dance floor destroyer with a ‘body-rock’ swing beat, rising leads, quaking sub-bass, and enough beat switches to keep the A.D.D. massive on their toes.’ - URB Magazine

This event will take place at Remedy in Lawrenceville! This is a seriously awesome place with 3 floors, 2 bars, and 2 rooms of sound by some of the finest DJs in the Pittsburgh Area. There will be all kinds of giveaways all night, including mix CDs and vinyl from Type New Music!! Drum and Bass heads get ready for a treat!

Spinnas for the night!!! 9pm-2am

It was sometime around midnight on the edge of the balcony when the beer began to take hold. I remember saying something like “I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should DJ….” And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the club was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the booth, which seemed like it was going about a hundred miles an hour with the CDJs on fire leading us toward Las Vegas. And a voice was screaming “Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?”

Then it was quiet again. Matt had taken his shirt off and Tara was pouring beer on his chest, to facilitate the tanning process. “What the hell are you yelling about?” he muttered, staring up at the lights with his eyes closed and covered with wraparound Spanish sunglasses. “Never mind,” I said. “It’s your turn to DJ.” Paul backspun the record and aimed the tonearm toward the side of the turntable. No point mentioning those bats, I thought. The poor bastards will see them soon enough.
