Launched in Detroit in 1995 by BMG and Erika, the IT team has become known for their signature label that pushes brain-twisting techno, classic electro and experimental music across time and space by way of the Motor City. In recent years, they’ve also developed a following of diehards for their ‘No Way Back’ parties. These intimate, audio/visual assaults on the senses have become one of the annual must-attend afterparties of Detroit’s Movement Festival.

Join us at Out of Order as they bring their sound to Pittsburgh for the first time.

April 23, 2012 Events, Lawrenceville, Promos

The fifth installment of your monthly disorderly throwdown is a focus on the otherworldly sounds of Bleepsequence. Founded and managed by Humanaut’s own Revy, the netlabel serves as an oasis in the abyss of digital debris, providing its listeners with unique open minded techno and experimental media at no cost. To celebrate two years and twenty releases of bleepy brain bending fun, we’ve lined up a set from recent blpsq inductee and all around ultrawizard Relative Q, an elusive live pa from Revy himself, and the mind warping beats of Alex Falk.

————————–———————

ALEX FALK [PILTDOWN SOUND] (Knoxville, TN)
[Proper Trax, Bleepsequence, Woods N Bass]

————————–———————

Alex’s DJ selections and original productions are as inspired by stark, warehouse oriented techno and industrial music as they are influenced by the psychedelic sounds of full moon gatherings and outdoor festivals. An electronic music adherent and experimenter since childhood, Falk has applied his outer space aesthetic to a variety of projects, organizing regional events and travelling across North America to DJ and perform live. Now collaborating with longtime friend Joel Cox as ‘Piltdown Sound’, their recent crop of hypnotic & loop-driven techno productions have already recieved support from a variety of well known DJ/producers including Norman Nodge, Adam Jay, Seph, Mekas, Deepchild, Truncate, Samuli Kemppi, Dubfire, Pig & Dan, DJ Psycho, Anderson Noise, and Paco Osuna. 2011′s busy release schedule featured digital and 12″ releases on Proper Trax, Landed Productions, Release Musiq, and SubSensory Recordings which precede projects slated for 2012 release on Bleepsequence, Woods N Bass, Herbst Und Musik and Nude Photo Music.

For month four, we shift gears as Humanaut hands the keys over to one of the most respected music men in Pittsburgh: CUTUPS (AKA Geoff Maddock). Over the years, Geoff has worked tirelessly to bring a huge variety of cutting-edge music through this city. Join us as he highlights some of the best artists from the region in another round of Belvedere’s dance floor punishment.

———-
FROM CUTUPS:

“When Humanaut crew asked me to plan an instance of their new but already smashing Out of Order night, I jumped at the chance. They always bring a high production value to their shows and have commanded alot of respect among the informed dance music crowd in pittsburgh. It was fun to put together a lineup that would rep my own tastes, but also be a hit at a Humanaut party.

Jason Burns immediately came to mind as somebody I’d like to play this night. He’s one of Cleveland’s originals in the dubstep scene, both as a dj for regular nights and one offs, a producer who’s been getting play all over (“Back 2 You” was one of XLR8Rs top 100 Downloads of 2011), and co-promoter bringing in top acts in the genre for more than a few years. His style leans heavily to the deeper, soulful end of the spectrum, but he doesn’t really limit himself to one style or mood, other than just playing top notch tunes.

Vasculator is a long time fan, electronic hardware geek, and producer of techno and left field electronic music, but has existed mostly on the fringes of pittsburgh’s scene. He’s been a collaborator with the Technoir Audio crew doing live techno, toured doing modular synth work with
industrial act Prometheus Burning, and played blistering original breakcore live sets in Detroit and the west coast. This time he’s doing and all new stripped down techno live set that combines his digital and analog gear.

I was looking for one more guest to round out the night, when I remembered that Jose “Mr. Hamilton” was looking to put together a classic IDM set. You may know him from his live sets as Mr. Hamilton or as part of Ekofield, or his deep house sets at various spots around town, but he’s also a big fan of left field electronic music and will be opening up with a set of 90s/ early 2000′s selections.

On December 10, 2011, Humanaut launched a monthly series of parties focused on quality dance music from the best local, regional and international talent.

For month 3, Humanaut reaches over the Atlantic ocean to bring one of the most influential artists to us as a crew to Pittsburgh for the very first time. This is the first headliner event for Out of Order and a very special one for us:

————————–
KIRK DEGIORGIO (UK)
————————–

Almost as if to try and throw his fans off the scent, Kirk Degiorgio has used As One, Elegy, Esoterik, Critical Phase, and Future/Past as recording aliases. In 1992 Degiorgio recorded his first release on B12 Records and shortly after founded the ART label (Applied Rythmic Technology) releasing early material by seminal artists such as Carl Craig, Aphex Twin, Stasis, and The Black Dog.

Help us give Kirk a warm welcome for his debut in Pittsburgh.

On December 10, 2011, Humanaut launched a monthly series of parties focused on quality dance music from the best local, regional and international talent. Each event will be curated by different Humanaut members as well as occasional guest-curators.

For month two, Humanaut has asked everyone’s favorite internet personality Tom Cox to take the reigns of the night. Tom’s decision: an all-vinyl night featuring the crew of the widely read Infinite State Machine blog. Always full of opinions and great music, ISM has become a fixture both in Pittsburgh and in the dance music world.

КартиниHumanaut presents:
Claude Young – (Surface, !K7, 7th City, Frictional Records)

Electronic composer, web designer, videographer, sci-fi junkie, apple computer expert & world class DJ, these are but a few of the hats worn by the anomaly that is Claude Young Jr. This Detroit native who now resides in Tokyo (Japan) was born the son of legendary WJLB (Detroit) radio personality, station founding member and production wizard Claude Young Sr.

After early interest in television production and some experience working as an intern (and later mix show DJ) for several radio programs in the early 90′s, CYJ intensified his interest in what he refers to as the art of the DJ. Coached by close friend and mentor Anthony “Shake” Shakir he became a natural almost literally overnight.

His editing & production skills in studio (taught to him by his father & years of experimentation alone) saw him work on a string of records for both independent and major record labels. Musto & Bones, Technasia, Gary Numan, Carl Craig, Joey Beltram, Inner City and 4Hero are but a few of the artist either remixed or edited by Young.

He was also cofounder of two of Detroit electronic music’s most respected record imprints: Frictional Records (with Anthony “Shake” Shakir) and 7th City Records (with Dan “DBX” Bell).

For those that were in Detroit for Movement 2011, you know why this man’s coming to town. Please help us give him a warm Pittsburgh welcome.

Humanaut presents:
The Bunker NYC

Over 8 years, The Bunker has slowly developed into one of the best places to hear underground techno & house music in the country. Based in Brooklyn’s Public Assembly, The Bunker parties showcase a wide variety of talent – simultaneously looking back to dance music’s roots and also highlighting the best of the emerging sounds. These legendary parties have introduced thousands of people to some of the most innovative music in the world and at the same time, helped rejuvenate the North American scene.

Please join Humanaut as we welcome the brainchild behind this influential party night, Bryan Kasenic (Spinoza), who will share the decks with resident DJ Eric Cloutier for a night of innovative and downright nasty dance music.

Opening duties will be delivered by Edgar Um, who coincidentally gave Mr. Kasenic his first booking right here in his original hometown – the Steel City.

::: APPLEBLIM

http://www.skulldisco.com/

http://www.xlr8r.com/news/2010/10/listen-new-mix-appleblim

Skull Disco. A club night called FWD>>. England’s West country bass HQ, Bristol. These are just a few things you may associate with second wave dubsteppa Laurie ‘Appleblim’ Osbourne. He may have revved up his journey along the musical motorway with stints in early ‘90s NME favourites The Monsoon Bassoon, but it was a creative technology course at Uni in 2003 that sparked this phase of his life into existence and saw the birth of Skull Disco, which he ran with Shackleton. At early FWD>> and DMZ nights Laurie and his crew would be first in last out, and it was links he forged at these early dubstep nights (and his regular emails to the generic Ammunition in-box) that got him a job working at Tempa. Since then he’s released deep, deadly and esoteric tunes on Skull Disco, launched his own Apple Pips label, gone podcast-ballistic with widescreen sets for Dub War and Rinse FM, and fronted the latest in the venerable line of Dubstep Allstars mix compilations. Zoop and again, zoop.

::: SIGHT UNSEEN

http://twitter.com/sightunseendnb

From Everyday Junglist:
edj: Can you give us a little introduction to Sight Unseen – who are you, where are you based, how long have you been producing and what’s your history within drum & bass?

Sight Unseen are Adam and Preslav and we represent the Steel City – Pittsburgh. We’ve been producing drum and bass for about 8 years now, but we became obsessed with the music in the 90s.

edj: Do you make any other music, or is it strictly D&B?

We’re involved in various other projects covering different tempos of dance music and beyond. Some of those have seen the light of day already, more will hopefully see release over the next year.

edj: You are extremely enigmatic in your online presence with information about you scarce. Is this a conscious decision, and if so, why?

We prefer to have the music speak for us….
